"I am not one who was born in the custody of wisdom. I am one who is fond of olden times and intense in quest of the sacred knowing of the ancients." Gustave Courbet

Connection.

Nearly every ancient civilization has studied the night sky, whether for navigation, measuring time, or spiritual purposes. The Plains Indians of North America were no exception. Dotting the high hills of the northern plains are hundreds of Native American stone constructions, called medicine wheels. Many of these are precisely aligned with the sun and stars. The name Medicine Wheel may seem strange, considering how modern society thinks of medicine. To the Native Americans, medicine means “spiritual and mysterious.” These wheels are an intricate part of their spirituality and connection to the Earth and sky.
